Belinda is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and holds a doctorate in Health Promotion, and has 30 years of experience consulting in exercise physiology and preventive health.
Belinda is expert in the delivery of exercise and lifestyle modification programs for people concerned by chronic disease and seeking better health, having worked with Cancer Council NSW presenting the exercise aspect of their ENRICH lifestyle program for over ten years. She began her career at St George Hospital researching exercise for rheumatoid arthritis and later investigated the needs of people who care for people with Alzheimers Disease. Healthy weight and all its trappings are a passion for Belinda who incorporates into her exercise for weight management programs the evidence-based weight loss coaching she learned at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Philadelphia, PA.
Belinda has worked for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and in the corporate and not-for-profit worlds. She has taught clinical Exercise Physiologists in training at University of Sydney and health science students at University of Wollongong.
It is rare to have a conversation with Belinda that does not include reference to her own love of cycling either on-line or up (unnecessarily high) mountains. She takes exercise for health very seriously. Physical inactivity is now the fourth leading cause of ill-health and disability in Australia, and globally causes more deaths than smoking. The only thing Belinda takes more seriously is ensuring people she meets come to know the unadulterated pleasure of exercise they enjoy for health.
Belinda is available Thursdays.
