Telehealth services are ensuring that the people of Australia have access to high quality healthcare services delivered by healthcare professionals who they trust for their care and advice.
Our dietitian can provide telehealth video-conference and phone consultations under Medicare and Private Health fund services.
Medicare Services
It is a requirement that all telehealth services provided to people who are vulnerable to COVID-19 under Medicare are BULK BILLED. This means, until further notice both Initial and review consultations will be BULK BILLED for all new and review EPC referrals. You do not need a new referral if you have sessions remaining in your EPC plan.
Private Health funds
At least 15 Private Health funds have confirmed they will provide rebates for dietetic telehealth consultations, with more coming on board all the time. Please note that HICAPS terminals are yet to be updated to process the new item numbers. You may need to pay upfront and claim your rebate from the fund directly.
The following private health funds have confirmed with DAA that they recognise the telehealth-specific items for dietetic services: ahm, AIA, Bupa, CBHS, Defence Health, Emergency Services Health, HBF, Medibank, Mildura Health, myOwn, Navy Health, NIB, Police Health, RACQ, TUH. If your private fund is not on the list yet, rest assured they will be soon!
